Can You Have A Hobby While Traveling In A RV?

Can you have a hobby while traveling in a RV?

You certainly can!!

I love to do something exciting or different other than watching t.v. or driving to another destination. I am one of those people that yearn to do something fun, exciting, rather than the mundane. Maybe something like a hobby. A hobby can be outdoors, like hiking, walking, sightseeing, driving on dirt trails, shopping (yes, shopping), taking photos (I DO take a lot!), or you fill in the blank here. Or it could be inside your trailer, like, sewing, cooking, editing photos, crafting and so much more. But living in a trailer, no matter the size, how can you fit your hobby items in something small and cozy?

This is something I have struggled with! Even though we have a decent size trailer, trailers virtually have no storage, or minimum storage. I do not want to give up on hobbies as it is a gateway to new adventures or experiences, a way to express myself as I live small, but still want to live big with hobbies.

What is your hobby?

Mine is a bit of variety. Since I love to hike, I do not need to stuff anything in the trailer, other than hiking shoes and water pack, which is minimum to store. But I love to delve into mixed media, creating journals (with the help of an art teacher), and it requires paints, brushes, books to paint in, and other accessories. Our storage is terrible, so what I do is get containers that are small enough to fit into my cabinets to put some of my craft items in. I actually have pieces of art items located in different parts of our trailer so I can have this hobby.

We also got rid of a small sofa in the family room area as we never sat in it. I think it was used to collect lots and lots of dust! So we went to IKEA (don’t you just love IKEA?) and purchased a small white desk that is long and fits perfectly where the sofa was. When it comes to putting ANYTHING in a trailer, think small, think IKEA! It is great for doing my artwork, plus I have a small makeup mirror where I apply my makeup. Two uses for my desk area!!

I think if I could not do a hobby in my trailer, I would be miserable and bored. I feel it is important for us gals to pursue interests we have whether it is outdoors or inside. We all need to reach our creative side, to get in touch with it, have fun and be creative!
