Pros: Fantastic place to stay at and plenty of room! Nearby Grand Junction has all the amenities you need, like shopping, laundry, free water, dump, and garbage at the Fruita visitor center. A pleasant drive through ranches and their huge yards as you drive on the trail toward the campsite. Make sure to go all the way down, and the road is rough (broken pavement), but doable. Colorado National Monument is a must see with gorgeous views and hiking trails within, plus a scenic drive.

Rio Blanco Lake State Wildlife Area
Location: Meeker
Cost: Free/3 days
Pros: A quiet place to reflect life’s values, or just to take a nap. Relaxing lake nearby can definitely give you the sleep, relaxed and peaceful feeling. No internet service and limited cell service. Bring a small boat and a fishing pole for things to do. Great spot for an overnight onto another destination.

Flat Top OHV Recreation Area
Location: Montrose
Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area
Cost: Free/6 nights and 7 days
Do not let the name fool you! Not only can you bring your utv, atv, or dirt bikes, but you can camp in this area. Above the city, you are surrounded by dirt hills/trails for your exploring pleasure. Visit nearby Gunnison and the areas around it. There is a cute and historical downtown area to visit.
Best of all: there is internet! Internet is so hard to find as we travel, but this place had it as there was a cell tower near us.

Madden Peak Road Dispersed Camping
Location: Hesperus
Forest: San Juan National Forest
Cost: Free/14 days
Best time to visit: Spring, summer and fall
Located just outside of Durango, if you need an overnight stay, this is the place, No internet and scantily cell service, this is a peaceful, not far from highway 160. There are dispersed sites along the main, dirt road, some cleared and some with grass.

A quaint, college to view and play, there are always something to do. During the warm months, take a rafting trip or go swimming in a local watering hole, perhaps visit Durango Mineral Springs! Plenty of retail shops to visit, bars and eateries to partake of. Do not forget to drive on the Million Dollar Way and stop in Silverton and Ouray!
