3 Must-Go Hikes In Utah
As soon as we arrived at our next destination, I let my fingers flow onto my favorite outdoor app, Alltrails, and found 3 must-go hikes we had to go on. We had a short time to hike in St. George, Utah and I found 3 hikes that met my ideal trail list. If you plan to visit St. George, Utah, and you should, here are my recommendations with links and details about each hike in random order:
Owen’s Loop: This is a beautiful trail, with a scenic view of the city of St. George and could be challenging as you hike up. If you have a problem with heights, then this hike is not for you! There is a small parking lot, so get there early if it is prime hiking season. And when is it not? St. George is full of gorgeous red rock, so bring your camera or have your cell phone ready for photos! Personally, I really enjoyed this hike as the rocks were gorgeous, not too many people and just loved the views. The trail was mostly smooth, but sometimes we did walk on rock. Even thought it is called Owen’s Loop, there is only a loop on the top and you can walk any way you want around, but it is an out and back trail. Here are the details:
Length: 2. 7 miles
Elevation gain: 416 feet
Type of trail: Out and back (you walk to the top, walk around the loop and go back the same way you came.
Level: Moderate
Pioneer Rim: I really enjoyed where we started. Ample views of the beautiful red rock, plus we had stormy clouds which was a photo bonus. Easy to go up, and not too high. But it did get a little confusing on the next direction, meaning, where to turn. There are other hiking trails in the same area. It will be good to have a hiking app, like Alltrails, so you can download the hiking trail as a map to your phone. Eventually, you will have some easy and fun rocks to climb, which are optional, for photo moments. This is a fun loop trail, sometimes busy, but plenty of parking and of course, the almighty views us hikers like to see!
Length: 3.7 miles
Elevation gain: 374 feet
Type of trail: Loop
Level: Easy
Turtle Wall and Paradise Rim Loop: What a name, huh? I think this was my favorite out of the 3 I listed. A nice and easy loop (hurray for loops!), with lots of views and sometimes a little challenging as you ascend. It is not too high, but enough to get your heart pumping. There are other trails in the area, so make sure you use a map on your phone to guide you. Plenty of parking and a vault toilet are available. Make sure you have a camera or your phone as you will want to take plenty of photos!
Length: 3.8 miles
Elevation gain: 459 feet
Type of trail: Loop
Level: Easy
