What Are You Pondering Today?
I have been doing some pondering lately. Wondering what my purpose is here on earth, why I was created, pondering with many questions, thoughts, looking for answers. God has been working in my life, shutting doors that I thought would not shut. Hmmm.... Sometimes I think I am going in the right direction, then slam, goes door #1 or door #56. Do you ever feel that way? Don't get me wrong, I am glad to be living in the time we are, no matter how hard it can get or easy for that matter.
I was ready to go job hunting, resume prepared, and eager to get busy again after some well needed time off, but then something happened. My health is needing the attention this time, not a job, so I am still jobless, and a bit scared of what the latest health problem is in me. Life is like that. One minute you are on top of the world and the next you feel like you are dwelling on the bottom, pondering what is going to happen next. We think we are going in the right direction, and things change. Could I even say sometimes for our good?
Some things are meant for a short time, whether it is a job, friendship, relationship, or something else. But yet, during that short time, we can learn a lot. For example, we can learn valuable ways to be a better friend, husband or wife, employee or anything when God brings certain situations into our lives. When employment ends, friends move away, it is not an end, but a beginning.
Things have to end for new beginnings to start. Another example is a young tree. When a tree starts out, it starts as a seed. It has to go underground and gather water and nutrients for it to start growing roots. The underground growing process can be difficult as many things are changing to bring the tree out. It can be painful, hard, to give up the cozy place underground, but if we always stayed in our “safe space,” then how else are we going to grow if we do not take a chance and step out? Maybe God has something better for you?
The Lord prepares us by bringing things into our life that will help us to grow "roots" also. These roots are what strengthen us onto a safe foundation. A good foundation can be Jesus. Have you heard of Jesus? He was a wonderful man that lived so many years aga, and longs to have you walk along side with him. He has much to teach you! He is special as he is God’s Son, a Savior for you and me. There is so much more that I want to recommend reading the book of John in the Bible. You can read it online HERE.
Another pondering thought is learning patience. Oh how I wish I could have more patience! This is an area I truly STRUGGLE in. How about you? But sometimes as we ponder the next thought or the next move in our lives, we will have to wait at some point. The Lord is never in a hurry but just in time for any answers we are seeking for. He is not a genie in a bottle, but your Father, who longs for you be His daughter.
But it is hard. I want to get well and move on in my life, but for now I have to wait and see what the next step is. God has a purpose for each one of us. He is not in a hurry to rush us to the next place. Sometimes the situations may last a long time and sometimes a short time, although the bad situations we REALLY want them to end, right? Life goes fast, people enter and exit out of our lives, bad situations tend drag on until we are at our breaking point, and we ponder when is it my turn? Will God rescue me? Will I be healed? Yet, and this is weird to ask: Do we treasure those times? Our growing times, our time with God, learning defeat and getting back up again? What is God telling you today? As you ponder for your answer, I pray that this story has touched your heart.
