Creating Perfection?

My imperfect book!!!

I am a perfectionist, well somewhat of a perfectionist. I like things done right the first time, if possible. I hate it when I mess up and have to start again, although it could be a creative process, not as much as nuisance as I originally thought. I am making a “book” for a class I am taking, writing a short memoir, pages to put them in and of course, a cover. But not an ordinary cover. Oh no! The pages were fun to create and boy, did I practice on other paper before I did the pages for the REAL memoir to go on! Lots and lots of evenings I practiced, but not to perfection. Just trying to get a feel of what I want, to show my creativity, messiness and all. But the cover has been a challenge as I want to incorporate what I created on the pages and somehow combine them together on the cover. But the pages are MANY colors, many, many colors. I used the color wheel to help me as I think I am a colorful person.

But not perfect.

I love the folds on this delicate paper!

So back to the drawing board, or the creative area in my home as I continue to practice and seek colors perfect for the cover. I cannot use all the colors as I have too many, with both light and dark colors. So I am looking for a happy medium and I think I found it. I am mixing a couple colors to make it look antique as there is a part of my story with something antique, although the story does change directions. Since this is my first project I just wanted to do anything I would like to do, colors, stencils, stamps. And yes, I did have fun discovering what I actually could do, how I could make things better and honestly, just made me think about the whole creative process.

So, what is something creative you like to do? Share with us in the comments with photos!
