He Can Recover You

When I was a little girl, I had a turquoise ring with a silver band. I was proud of the ring and eager to show it to my friends, or wave my hand in the air, looking at the ring gently placed on a finger. Turquoise was popular when I was a child. I loved that ring as it was a treasure I had, but one day I lost it.

Searching under my bed, in a toy box or wherever I played at, I could not find it. Sadness reigned in my heart as this ring was special. But for one day, I found it. It was hidden underneath a couch cushion. I was extremely happy to have found it, like it was the best thing ever I could find. It was recovered.

When you have lost something, you may search high and low for it. The item may seem precious, a treasure, something that is important to you. Maybe a loved one gave you a prized item and you did your best to take care of it. But then, it disappeared. You may furrow your brows, thinking where was the last place I put it? Retracing your steps, moving things around to find that item may seem like a daunting task. But to recover it is a matter of importance to you.

This is like Jesus, sharing one of His many parables to His followers about a sheep. A sheep wanders off and the man goes off to find it. This man knew how important this one sheep was and left his other ninety-nine sheep behind to search for this one sheep. If he recovers it, he will rejoice with celebration, dancing and singing, even though it had wandered off and could have posed danger not only for itself but for the other sheep.

This is how God works: He is not willing to let any of His beloved children perish. He is not willing to let you perish. He will go and search for you until He can recover you.

He loves you that much. Beloved, God loved you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for you, to have a delightful relationship with Him. Will you allow God to recover you today?
